Review Eagles Glenn Golf Course Resort

| Greens: |  9/10 | Large greens comparable to any top notch course.
Pin placement identified by the standard red, white, and blue flag colour for front, middle, and back of green.
Enough contour to pose problems but nothing extreme to call unfair.
Largest fringe I've seen in quite some time. About 4 feet wide. |
| Fairways: | 8/10 | Standard 200, 150, and 100 yard stakes with a few extra for good measure. In addition, some trees have yardage posts nailed to them as well as posts planted at the fairways edge.
Fairways and rough combined makes total width very generous. |
| Tees: | 8/10 | Five tee blocks and each give a unique view of the course.
Signage seemed out of date on some holes and hole layout on scorecard did not match the actual course. |
| Course Design: | 8/10 | The fairways end on holes #7, #10, and #15 then start again after a break of rough. This struck me as a bit odd.
Two holes were sub 300 yards from the whites which allowed you to "crank it up" (holes #7 and #13).
Nice rolling hills and mounding throughout.
Some blind tee shots which required us to drive ahead to see what obstacles presented themselves.

| Value for $$$: | 8/10 | Course rates are on par with the rest of the island courses. Comparable pricing to the same calibre of course in my local area (Ottawa). |
| Difficulty: | 7/10 | Eagles Glenn is a very forgiving course.
For me, a lot of danger couldn't be reached from the tee or could easily be cleared. Most hazards can easily be avoided. |
| Scenery: | 7/10 | Mounding everywhere to produce the typical PEI rolling fairways.
Underbrush is reasonably clear. A drop in the trees can sometimes be played and a ball can often be found. |
| Staff: | 9/10 | We didn't see a beverage cart but weather was cool and our start time was delayed almost an hour due to rain.
The Starter was most helpful in telling us to start on hole #2 to get past a grouping of 12.
The Marshal threw us a few found balls.
The pro shop staff increased as volume increased. |
| Clubhouse: | 8/10 | A nice practical design set well in from the road. The clubhouse can easily fill up on busy days.
The large pro shop featured apparel and minor golf supplies. |
| Other Intangibles: | 8/10 | A long paved driveway is used to access the clubhouse.
Ample paved parking is available for any sized event.
The scorecard lacks the course layout but course has a good flow. The cart paths are a bit hidden which leads to a bit of guess work for where to park you cart near the green. |
80/100
Eagles Glenn would be a great starting point when doing a golf tour of PEI. The course should be a bit of a confidence booster (or not).
Walking is an option but not for the casual golfer. |

| Greens: | 9/10 | Greens were very large and very fast. Breaks were sometimes subtle but putts ran true and good reads were rewarded. Rain before and at the start of the round may have softened them up as we often made large ball marks when we hit from any distance at all. |
| Fairways: | 9/10 | The fairways themselves were sometimes narrow but wide first cuts of rough resulted in considerable forgiveness when we missed the fairways. All were in good condition and marked with 100, 150 and 200 yard markers in the centre. Most holes also marked these distances on both sides of the holes, which was a very nice touch. |
| Tees: | 9/10 | Four sets of tee boxes offered the ability to play different lengths to accommodate players of different levels. All were level, in good condition and had engraved markers in the ground with the yardage for each tee. The signs included yardage from each tee, but we found that the sign was sometimes situated at the tee box we were playing from and sometimes it was situated at a more distant one. |
| Course Design: | 8/10 | We enjoyed the layout of the course and the good separation between holes for most holes. We found that on two or three holes, the fairway would be split by a band of rough running from one side to the other for what seemed like no reason. |
| Value for $$$: | 9/10 | The cost to play this course is fair and our round was enjoyable. The forgiveness should allow for an enjoyable round even for a higher handicap golfer. This is a course I would definitely play again. |
| Difficulty: | 8/10 | This is a forgiving course in that it was often not too difficult to recover from a poor shot, but that did not necessarily turn it into an "easy" course. The fast greens added to the overall difficulty and it was certainly fair. |
| Scenery: | 8/10 | The course setting was nice and the course was well-maintained throughout. |
| Staff: | 9/10 | Our interaction with staff members was less than normal as rain delayed the start for several groups and the staff was preoccupied with rearranging start times and getting everyone going in a timely manner. When we did deal with staff, everything was professional and pleasant. We did not see a beverage cart on the course, presumably because of the weather conditions. |
| Clubhouse: | 9/10 | An exceptionally long, paved driveway took us to a large, paved parking lot. The Pro shop was well stocked with clothing, golf accessories and what appeared to be used Titleist golf clubs and bags. The lounge area was spacious and comfortable with an ample number of tables and chairs. |
| Other Intangibles: | 8/10 | The weather was a little uncooperative as rain delayed several groups and off-and-on drizzle affected about our first 7-8 holes. Scorecards and ball washers were fine and the cart paths and directions to the next hole were always good. We thought however that the hole layouts shown on the signs seemed to be outdated as they sometimes showed bunkers in different spots than where they were actually located on the holes. |
