| Greens: |  8/10 | I didn't notice any indication of pin position during our round.
Greens had varying contours, shapes, and size to the point where no standard could be described.
Speed of greens was quite good. |
| Fairways: | 6/10 | Fairways were dry and cut quite short. We were informed that there was a drought in the area and that a long heavy rain would be more than welcome.
Tall 150 markers are present in the fairways with 200 and 100 yards identified with plates.
Some holes on the back 9 can get quite narrow and make using the driver from tee a real challenge. |
| Tees: | 7/10 | Four tee boxes (wow!) even though yardage from the tips was only 6443 yards. The four tees can certainly give a different perspective for each hole.
Tees were in better then average shape. |
| Course Design: | 7/10 | Granite Springs is very walkable yet has some ups and downs to contend with.
There's a very long walk between holes 12 and 13 to the point where you think the distance can't be true.
Hole #10 requires good tee shot placement and #11 truly is the toughest hole on the course. |
| Value for $$$: | 7/10 | Granite Springs is a medium priced course. I'd love to play it again to correct my poorly played game. It offers a lot of challenge because club selection off the tee is critical. |
| Difficulty: | 8/10 | Granite Springs produced my worst round of our Nova Scotia trip. My score was a combination of course toughness and my poor iron play. I guess my body was also suffering from 9 straight days of golf.
This is a tough course for a novice. |
| Scenery: | 7/10 | Although not located too far from Peggy's Cove, Granite Springs does not offer any view of the water.
A few ponds dot the course but nothing major to contend with. Most are not visible from the tee and the scorecard isn't any help.
Some outcropping of rock may come in to play but not as much as hearsay lead us to believe. |
| Staff: | 7/10 | We saw the beverage cart about 3 times during play. Once before we even started our round.
Staff accommodated us despite a mix-up in communication. We had to play a quick round and be off in 3 hours because of a tournament. We were done in 2 1/2. |
| Clubhouse: | 7/10 | The clubhouse was quiet but a tournament with shotgun start was starting at 1:00pm. Members were out of the course with an early shotgun.
Parking lot is quite large. |
| Other Intangibles: | 7/10 | Some cart paths were paved and others were not.
Granite Springs did have a decent flow to the design but I still would like to see the layout on the scorecard.
GPS units were supplied in the carts. |

Granite Springs can be a tough track if you're easily frustrated.
Knowledge of the course hazards is certainly a plus. |
