Trickle Creek Golf Resort
Kimberley, BC

Alberta BoundSep-21-2007
Greens: 10/10The course sets the days for the different pin locations. You are given the pin positions for the day. The greens were excellent. The fringes were even and in good condition. Once again the bunkers were excellent. A number of the greens were very long so make sure of your club selection
Fairways: 9/10Very good fairways with the grass cut short. The first cut of rough was even and the rough gave way to trees and bush. The sprinkler heads were marked as well as the continuous cart paths. All fairway bunkers were well cared for with plenty of sand and rakes.
Tees: 9/10The tees were very well maintained and there were four tee boxes for each tee. The ball markers were attractive rocks and the tees had official yardage markings. The signs for the holes were also very attractive. The tees had ball washers and sand. All tees were level and pointed in the right direction.
Course Design: 9/10The course has a wonderful design. I made notes on 12 of 18 holes which indicated that I liked something about each hole. There was plenty of elevation changes with lots of very pretty holes. Number two was very pretty. Thirteen is a tricky 90 degree short dogleg right to a elevated green. Number 14 is a great par three from an elevated tee. Hole 17 is a par five with a creek and large rock wall in front of an elevated green. Over all you will like the design and find all the holes interesting to look at and play.
Value for $$$: 8/10The price for Trickle is near the top for the green fees from Golden to Cranbrook. The fees include the power cart and range balls. Week days are $6 cheaper
Difficulty: 8/10From the blues the course is 6330 yards and from the whites it is only 5530. So in either case the course is not that difficult. The slopes are 119 and 113. This makes for an enjoyable round as you are not getting beat up on each hole.
Scenery: 8/10The trees are wonderful and great to look at. They are tall and straight and line each fairway. The mountains come into view on a number of holes as well. The course once again is attractive and looks great from the tees.
Staff: 9/10We meet a lot of the staff starting with the bag people, the pro shop staff, restaurant staff and the starter. All were very pleasant and helpful. The pro shop helped with getting us to the tee when were were supposed to be there as we had about an hour frost delay that day. The start politely gives you tips on how to play the first hole and any rules or information about playing the course.
Clubhouse: 8/10The club house is small but has an attractive with lots of flowers and a great deck and a good restaurant. The pro shop is well stocked. The building is done in a mountain style with pine furnishing and pine beams.
Other Intangibles: 8/10Right away you are impressed with the entrance as you drive in. It is decorated with lots of flowers and a nice lake. The first impression says you are going to play a quality course. They have a bag drop and the score card has a map of the course which is handy. The electric carts have a rain cover and a flip book with a hole by hole description and yardage tips. The beverage cart came by at least once on each nine. The cart path is continuous and washrooms and water are good and located at 5, 8 and 14.
86/100
This is an excellent course and you should not miss it if you are in the area. My playing partner considers this the best BC mountain course that he has played. You will enjoy your golf on this well maintained course in beautiful surroundings.
