| Greens: |  9/10 | All the greens were excellent with good fringes and bunkers in good shape with lots of sand. Try and stay below the flag as some greens have some difficult slopes. All greens were of average size with about 32 to 36 paces in length. |
| Fairways: | 9/10 | The fairways were cut low and were in excellent shape. The first cut of rough was even and the undergrowth under the trees was cut. Fairway bunkers were in good shape and a few had large waste bunkers. |
| Tees: | 9/10 | There were four tees, black, blue, white and red. They had official yardage markers, ball washers, some gardens, shoe cleaners and nice stone tee markers. The signs had decent maps of the holes. If you forgot a score card they had cards at the first and second tees. |
| Course Design: | 8/10 | The design is by Les Furber and has many of the features that he uses for his mountain courses. The holes are nice to look at and bunkers come into play on many of the holes. Number one is a good starting hole as it requires a decent tee shot to the dogleg. Number 4 is a great par 3 protected by large deep bunkers. Number 7 has a very large white waste bunker that catches a lot of tee shots. Number 14 and 17 are good par threes with total carry over a deep ravine. Sixteen is an excellent looking hole as the bunkers protect and frame the green very nicely. When you are on number 18 stop and have a look from the back tee. You will be amazed at the shot required and the scenery. |
| Value for $$$: | 8/10 | The green fees are about the same as the rest of the quality course in the valley.The fees include the cart as well. |
| Difficulty: | 8/10 | The slopes are 120 and 117 from the blues and the whites. The fairways were generous in most cases and the greens were not tightly protected with bunkers. The course is mainly flat but there are a couple of times you have to go across a deep ravine. This is a course that everyone can enjoy. |
| Scenery: | 8/10 | The views are similar to most of the courses in the valley. You have mountains to the east and west with the river running below the course. Some of the views down to the river are very interesting. |
| Staff: | 9/10 | All the staff we meet in the restaurant, pro shop, starter and on the course were excellent and they were proud of their course. |
| Clubhouse: | 7/10 | The club house has a low profile with a good pro shop, decent restaurant with a very good deck overlooking the valley. There is a good meeting room if you had a group or wanted to meet after your round for prizes etc. There were plenty of flowers around the club house. |
| Other Intangibles: | 9/10 | They have a good practice facility with two putting greens. The starter has a computer in his office so he knows the who is teeing off and in what order. He also lets you know how to play the first hole, gives you suggestions on what tee boxes will suit you best and cart path rules for the day. They have a bag drop close to the electric carts that have club covers. The carts come with seed, ball washers and a cooler. The score cards are attractive and helpful. The cart paths are paved but not continuous and you can drive on the fairways. There are nice washrooms at 5 and 8 with a good ½ way house that you drive by on the way to number 10. I am sure there are washrooms on the back nine but I did not notice them. The entrance to the course is very nice with long paved road leading to a paved parking lot. |

The Resort at Radium has two courses. The Resort course and the Springs. This review is for the Springs. The Springs is one of the older courses in the valley and is a favorite of many golfers that golf in this area. You can not go wrong if you book a tee time at the Springs. They do offer a discount if you stay at the resort.The day we were there there was a warning that a cougar had been sighted in the area. Just one of the fun things about playing a mountain course. |
