Bayside Resort is a Jack Nicklaus designed course that offers a great challenge (Does any Nicklaus not do this?). It's tough to play a round without visiting at least one of the numerous bunkers found throughout the course.
Upon arrival, the location of the Bayside clubhouse and surroundings lead me to believe that I would be playing a course that wound through a housing development. My assumption was wrong. Very little development can be seen during a round and no housing will ever come in to play.
There's not just numerous bunkers throughout the course but also plenty of water hazards. In fact, the yardage booklet shows water on every hole.
The greens were reasonably large and had a decent speed. We were informed that the greens were aerated two weeks earlier but you would have never known.
The clubhouse is very classy offering a large bar and dining area. The pro shop has lots of clothing yet, as seems to be the case in the Ocean City area, does not carry any golfing equipment beyond your standard supplies for playing a basic round.
The staff were most helpful in informing us about the details of the course.
All carts come equipped with GPS and there is a flyover feature that offers a preview of each hole. I would highly suggest using it before you tee off.
We played from a tee box set called "Blended" which offered a good compromise between difficulty and yardage. From the tips Bayside Resort can be played at over 7500 yards which is well beyond my capabilities.
Bayside Resort is another must play course!
