This 18-hole course presents golfers with a challenging par 70 course rife with narrow shots and challenging greens. At the same time, the course at Stone Tree is not overly long and the generous landing areas will help even the most novice golfer relax as they learn this classic game amid the pristine, natural vistas of Southern Ontario.
In addition to golf, the facility at Stone Tree also offers opportunities for fitness, weddings and dining. The course offers stay and play packages, for the many golfers who surely won't be satisfied with just one evening of fun on this course.
We can't wait to welcome you to Stone Tree Golf and Fitness Club for your next round of Owen Sound golf!

On the south side of Owen Sound is the Stone Tree Golf and Fitness Club. If you're heading in to town on Highway 10 you'll see the course on your right. The roadside view doesn't allow you to see much of the course but you can see the driving range and a few larger buildings. Stone Tree is one of the few clubs where I have encountered a fitness facility on site to go along with the golf and I'm not sure why this is a rarity.
The greens were quite large, in excellent shape, and very easy to read. I can't remember and greens that had severe contours or anything of significant break. Many of my putts were very straight and true.
Although the course is not overly long at 6267 from the tips there is four tee sets to choose from. The par 5s are long and almost all over 500 yards from 3 of the 4 tee decks. Even at playing from my standard tee set selection of the closet to 6,000 yards I still found many holes to play long. Add on the fact that some holes are tight and you will have some difficulty in your round.
Finding you distance on these good conditioned fairways can sometimes be and issue as only 150 markers are visible. These markers are fair-sized rocks and easily identifiable.
The tees were all in good shape but weren't overly wide.
The ninth hole ends well out on the course. After nine there is washrooms and a nice gazebo with barbecue for a mid-round snack.
Hole #2 is a dangerous par 5 and quite obviously the #1 handicap hole on the course. Check your yardage before teeing off. I'm a relatively long hitter and I thought I could cut the corner off the tee but after rounding the turn it was quite obvious that my tee shot did not clear. Plan your shots well on this hole as it can make or break your round early. There is very little water on the course but there are a few marshy areas of which on hole #2 this can be found.
The finishing hole at Stone Tree is a par 3. Not many courses finish with a par 3 but I do have to say I like the look of this hole. It can still cause some problems at the end of a round.
