Although greens were freshly aerated at the time of play (last week before closing) one could tell that the greens were in good shape. Nice size and contours to produce a challenge. Difficult pin placements can be conceived. Some greens are well protected by bunkers.
I understand the greens were recently rebuilt but I couldn't tell how many or what was done.
Each hole normally has a safe side to play.
Very few fairway bunkers or hazards.
150 yard markers are easily visible with plates for 100 and 200 yards.
Four sets of tees to choose from. Most in excellent shape.
A few holes appear similar. Adding some bunkers mid-fairway would greatly increase the difficulty of the course.
Some great rolling hills (namely #1 and #9) and a few splendid tee shot views (#13 and #17).
Par 5s are tough to reach in 2 even for long hitters. Select your clubs wisely.
One of the nicest and most challenging courses in the Ottawa Valley and at a very reasonable price.Price was adjusted accordingly the day we played since the green were aerated.
Lots of trouble to be had if you wander into the trees. Deep bunkers can produce multiple sand shots. Thank goodness the course lacks a lot of water.
Pleasant rolling hills. Scenic backdrop with mature trees. Great country atmosphere.
Course was quiet the day we played. The staff appeared ready for shutdown mode. Maintenance staff informed us often as to how much longer we would have to wait before the frost lifted.
Everyone (including canteen staff) was courteous and friendly.
Nice clubhouse set apart from the Pro Shop. Can hold a good sized tournament.
Pro Shop was well equipped.
Some additional directions required between a few holes.
Busy course for a relatively small population to pull from. About an hours drive north of Ottawa.
Scorecard is nicely designed and identifies pin placements.
Don't miss out on the Ottawa Valley 'gem'. If you can't be a member the Renfrew Golf Club is well worth an annual visit from anywhere.
