Situated adjacent to the University of Guelph, which owns the property, Cutten Fields " formerly known as The Cutten Club from the late 1930s to 2011 " is a private, family-oriented, golf and tennis facility that became a not-for-profit, member-run establishment in 2005, when the university relinquished club management and leased the land to the members.
Mr. Chick Evans, a prominent golfer and golf course architect from Chicago, had been commissioned to design the course. He was subsequently joined by Mr. Stanley Thompson from Toronto, who was also a course architect. Together they completed the project in 1931.
Members have always enjoyed the club's first class amenities that, in addition to the 18-hole championship course, include a full practice facility with a driving range, private golf and tennis lessons and clinics with certified professionals, a popular juniors' program, exceptional dining " from casual to elegant " and a long-standing custom of family, fellowship and fun. The club also offers a full service pro shop, trial memberships, learn to golf membership, year round access to four Har-Tru clay tennis courts, and wedding and banquet facilities for 4 to 200 guests.
