1. Why are some distances to a golf course not accurate?
Distances are calculated on longitude and latitude values for each Canadian Postal Code. The values for each Postal Code are only as good as the database provided to us. Some Postal Codes in Canada cover a very broad area and other longitude and latitude values are the same for an entire municipality. In short, as the Postal Code database improves, so will the accuracy of the calculated values.
2. Why is my Postal Code not found?
This problem has been encountered with a few golf courses as well. As the country grows so do the number of Postal Codes. If you encounter a missing Postal Code please inform us at update@golfincanada.ca and we'll try to add it to our database.
3. Why is there no directions when I request to see a Map to a course?
We use Google Maps to provide directions to golf courses. We pass what we feel are the best parameters for the Google Maps search engine to return accurate directions. In many rural areas golf courses are identified only with a Post Office Box number. This parameter is of no value to Google Maps and so the search engine must try to locate the golf course by Postal Code alone. This value could return a very inaccurate result or no result at all.
Another suggestion is to try and 'tweak' the Google Maps 'End Address' field. Try removing/editing the destination data. You can also 'click' on the 'Satellite' button and visually search for the golf course.
4. How can I add a new golf course or a missing golf course to your search engine?

7. What is a "Recommended Play" golf course?
After conducting a Course Search, you may find the some of the listed courses have a "Recommended Play" icon located beside the course name. This icon indicates that Golf in Canada likes this course or there is something unique about the course that would make it worthy of playing.
Reasons for recommending a course can range from liking the scenery, the difficulty, the simplicity, being great for couples, plus a host of other reasons. There's something about the course that makes it distinct and likeable.
